Dear Prayer Partners,

We would like to thank you for your prayers, financial gifts and the many other things you are doing as we partner in this ministry. We would also like to wish you a Happy Easter! This is an exciting time for the ministry of the church as we think of all Christ's death, burial, and resurrection mean to our lives. This last month has also been a busy yet exciting time in the ministry here in the northern Philippines. God says in His word in John 4 that the harvest is white and in Gal. 6 that we will reap and that has been what has been happening here. At the beginning of the month we saw the profession of an elderly lady and put a Bible in her hands which opened the door to another study amongst her grandchildren and neighbors.

This is taking place on Saturday mornings so Daeana is helping with it as Anabelle is busy with the preparations for the one we already have that afternoon. We have seen the Spirit working in this one also as we have witnessed nineteen (19) new professions this month. The Holy Spirit is working in the Itogon Church also as we have watch Him bring in five (5) new lives to the church thru salvation. We were also invited into the large public High School in Calumbaya. We talked to two classes of third year students and ninety seven (97) received new life. The principal also accepted Jesus as her personal Savior. Then she invited us to begin a 1 hour Bible Class when the new school year begins in June. We need to obtain a Dept. of Ed. Permit for this so please be in prayer so this permit process will be successful. This will mean we can not only follow up on the students that have already made a profession but we have the potential of seeing many more young people come to know Jesus.

As most of you know also that Anabelle's parents have been staying in our home in the states. Well they decided due to health reasons to return to the Philippines and are due to land here on April 2. Thus please be in Prayer with and for us as we seek God's wisdom in how to care for the things back in Chattanooga. Through God's guidance we have been put in contact with a Philippine Bible school graduate that desires to help in Itogon and another Baptist pastor that wants to help in Calumbaya. WOW! So many things happening so fast our heads are spinning we need your prayers! Now a few words from Daeana; "It is exciting to see the children learn God's Word and put it in their hearts. Also many of my friends have come to receive Jesus! I have finished fourth grade and am waiting to see how God will use me in the future!"

Dear Prayer Partners,

As we think of February, we think of our dear loved ones with the celebration of Valentines Day drawing near. So we would like to wish each of you a Happy Valentines Day! You are our family and the lifeline in the ministry. We greatly appreciate each of you and thank you for your prayers and financial partnership as well as all your labors with us in God's ministry. Thank you also for praying for Dale's passport. He has it in hand and praises God for His guiding hand through all the Philippine government employees that brought it to pass during this last month. We have not located a publisher to print the tract yet but God is working.

Since New Years day fell on Sunday this year and since we rely on public transportation, we ran into a problem getting to Baguio on that Sunday so we went to the Bible Baptist Church in San Fernando city and spoke with the American missionary, Pastor Philips, about the tract situation. He told us you cannot get them in the Philippines you have to get them from the States. He then offered us several hundred tracts in Tagalog and Ilocano which he just received along with some pamphlets of the books of John and Romans in Tagalog. God works in wonderful ways! So we have been handing them out in Itogon and we have also been canvassing Calumbaya with these newly acquired materials. God is definitely working here in Calumbaya as we handed out the material. We were told on a couple of occasions that they have been praying for this type of ministry here. So we have started two separate Bible studies. Praise God!! We give Him all the glory as He does all things in His time! Please pray with us as it is our desire for these studies to grow into a church one day. We are also continuing to train the people in the church in Itogon in God's Word so that in the future they can take over that work and be led by their own people. But the work there is new and they are still young but growing as God leads.

Now a few words from Daeana: "Dear Church Family, January has been a thrilling month! I have finished the series "The Chronicles of Narnia" by C.S. Lewis. I have started the series "Anne of Green Gables". I have read many other long books as well. Sunday school has been doing well. I have taught "The writing on the Wall" and "The Rebuilding of the Temple". I am now reviewing the lessons and doing a question "bee" on them for the children. They are working on John 3:16 for their memory verse in Tagalog and Ilocano. We have started some Bible studies here in Calumbaya. Several children have been coming including some of my friends. I am still getting acquainted with the others. I am overflowing with gratitude for your prayers and support! Farewell Daeana."

Dear Prayer Partners;

Happy New Year!!! We also hope you had a most blessed celebration of the birth of our Saviour! His birth opened the door for His true purpose which is His death, burial, and resurrection to fulfill God's plan for mankind. Man's redemption! The cry of our heart and the center of our focus is and always should be on Him for His Glory! We wish to deeply thank you for your prayers, financial contributions and the many other things you do as we partner together in the ministry of our Lord Jesus Christ. Our Christmas celebration with the Itogon people was a wonderful success because of God's people praying God's way! We had six (6) first time visiting adults and many first time visiting children. We not only told the story of the birth of our Messiah out of Luke and Matthew but showed them through God's Word the reason for His birth which was His death to redeem man from his sins. We though need to personally believe in order to receive this redemption. Please pray for these new people that they will believe as we follow up with them over the coming weeks. Since we have been in the Philippines, we have been looking for a simple tract written in Tagalog, and Ilocano. We have been unsuccessful even though we have checked with churches and Christian book stores here in San Fernando, up in Baguio, and even down in Manila. The Lord has thus impressed on our hearts to develop one and have it printed. So over these last several weeks we have prayed diligently and developed one in both of these languages that we can use here. Please pray as we search now for a place to have them printed. Also pray that the Spirit will go forth and work on the people's hearts as we distribute them and that these people's spirits will be reborn. God can and will do mighty works through His children who are molded to His hand, for His use, for His Glory! We have now been in our new home four (4) months and over that time Daeana has made many new friends. We have numerous children, both boys and girls, in the yard after school and on weekends. We have been praying about beginning a vacation Bible school for them this summer. The children here get out of school at the end of March and go back at the beginning of June. Thus their summer here is March and April so this does not leave us much time to prepare. Please bathe this in special prayer! If you have any suggestions on how where to find supplies quickly please let us know. Now a few words for Daeana "Dear Church Family; I want to thank God that I am here! I am enjoying our ministry more and more. I was able to go caroling for Christmas in Calumbaya, our home. We spent Christmas day in Itogon, Baguio, it was a blessing! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!"

Dear Prayer Partners;

We wish to thank you for your prayers and financial partnership and the many other things you do in regards to ministry. This last month has held many opportunities for ministry. We were able to minister to a family in our neighborhood in Calumbaya. The wife's mother, who was living with them, suddenly passed away. We were able to help them and talk to them about our Lord and Savior. We also invited them to study the Bible with us when we get the building far enough along to have some organization. The people attending the church in Itogon has been bringing Anabelle a beautiful bouquet of flowers each week, so she has been bringing them home and passing them out to the neighbors. This is opening doors and she is inviting them to our upcoming Bible study in the home God has provided for us here.

We have also had the opportunity to minister to the family of the person who has been working with us in the ministry as Satan has stepped up his attack in her life. Please be in special prayer for her. Pray also for the director of our mission board as he is having a hard time as well. We are confident though that God will carry them through as He has promised. The Itogon church is going well and the membership is beginning to stabilize. We are averaging between fifty and seventy each week which is exciting.

Please be in added prayer during the month of October as this is the month generally with the strongest typhoons during the wet season. This season usually lasts till the beginning or middle of November. In fact we are in the middle of a category 3 typhoon as we are writing this letter. The move to our new home has been good for Daeana. This last month she has made many new friends in the neighborhood and talks to them about the ministry and the Bible as she plays. It is encouraging to watch her mature both physically, mentally, and spiritually. God knows what we need even though we are not sure and changes our desires to be in tune with His (Prov. 3:5-6, Ps. 37:4). We are truly blessed that God is using us so richly in His service.

Now a few words from Daeana "Hi again! How are you doing? I am fine. I have met some of the neighborhood children. Please pray for one of my friend's family right now as there is a typhoon. Their house is like one of the three little pigs' houses. You know the one made of straw! Well their house has some cement but not enough. Also pray for us for safety as there are some thieves on the loose that broke into the house next door a week or so ago. Thank you for your prayers and support."

Dear Prayer Partners;

Thank you so much for partnering with us in the ministry God has for us through prayer, financial gifts, and the many other things you do in His service. The ministry is going well. It is exciting to see God working in the hearts of the people. The person who expressed a desire to serve God in His ministry has begun coming with us to the Baguio ministry and helping with the children as she is a school teacher. Daeana is appreciative of the extra help. Please pray for her as Satan is working overtime to discourage her. Pray for God's hedge in her life at this time.

Also it is exciting to see the people beginning to take ownership of the ministry in Itogon. As we studied through the Book of Exodus they learned that God told the Israelites to bring a tithe so they expressed a desire to do so as well. They are now taking up an offering to one day purchase their own land and build a church on it. We are now meeting in the house of one of the people attending the services. Thus since we are meeting to worship God in His Word and many have been saved and baptized and now they are giving God, His offering in obedience to His Word, we can say the ministry is now a house church and not just a Bible study. God is really working and the people are growing spiritually. This is truly exciting! Please pray for the continued growth in their lives.

The weather has been overly wet this year compared to last year but that has not dampened our spirits for the ministry. We had a major typhoon at the beginning of this last month and we are now just finishing a second here at the end of the month. But Praise God, the middle of the month was somewhat dry for the wet season. We are also excited to finally move our things to our new home. The house is not finished but it is livable. There are no kitchen cabinets, sink, or stove so we cook outside over an open fire. The water system is not finished so we carry water from the hand pump by the well to use for cooking and cleaning. We buy our water for drinking as the well water is not potable. The water is not expensive so this is not a problem. The electrical is not totally finished but we have lights in most rooms. We are still working on the tile in the showers so we improvise. But it is nice to have our space and not be cramped in a home with members of four families. Praise the Lord for His guiding hand! Please pray for safety as we continue the work on the house and also for traveling mercies as the roads were bad before all the rain and now have been partly washed away in many areas. Everything seems to be overly flooded.

Now a few words from Daeana "Yes! It is finally happening! We are moving into our new house. The workers are still here working but we are able to use it. Please pray for us as there is a typhoon. It is affecting many people! Please pray for them also. Don't worry I am still my old self. I have not changed that much. Paalam (goodbye) Daeana Joy"

Dear Prayer Partners,

First and foremost we would like to THANK YOU for your prayers and financial partnership. During the month of July, we saw Satan working, yet GOD always saw us through. God has promised not to leave His children forsaken and by His grace He has brought us forth with victory. Praise God for the trials and victory! At the beginning of the month, Charles Justin, the nephew of Anabelle, came down with Dengue Fever and was hospitalized for a week. Anabelle and Daeana Joy cared for him during his illness as his Father was at school in Manila and his mother was teaching school. This also gave them ample opportunity to witness to the student nurses and other personnel. They did well and shared their faith consistently. But as soon as Charles was doing better, Daeana came down with the same thing, she was not hospitalized, we cared for her at home. She is still having some complications from it though. Then Anabelle got sick from being overly fatigued and is still struggling. Then Dale came down with something and spent time in the hospital. At first the doctors thought it was Typhoid Fever but the extensive test turned out negative. We thought it was Dengue Fever but the test came back negative. Praise the Lord as both those diseases are extremely dangerous. It is exciting to know that the God who created the Universe also still cares about the smallest servant! Then our computer crashed and we lost all our files. The repair people installed a new operating system from Microsoft but it is not compatible with our backup. Thus more repairs are necessary. Until then we are trying to make do so please bear with us. The weather has been wet but we have seen only one typhoon and it was not significant. God is in control and will not put his children through more than they can handle. With all the trials, came many blessings as well. We had one of the people come to us and give their testimony as to the fact that what we have been teaching has finally become real to them and they are not only now having a special time in their walk with the Lord each day but would like to serve Him in the ministry also. Thus we know people are listening and learning and growing spiritually. God is really working so let us PRAISE HIS HOLY NAME!!! The building is coming along nicely but we are not as far along as we hoped. We do have the sheeting on the ceiling and are ready to install lights so we can see clearly. The windows are finally all installed but not yet caulked. The rest of the electrical is basically finished. We need though to install the water tank high enough to provide adequate pressure for our water consumption. This is going to be a real task because of the weight of the combined tank and water. God will oversee this challenge also so we can Praise Him beforehand. We miss you all very much and pray for you consistently. We are already looking forward to seeing you all again! Now a few words from Daeana "Hello again everybody! I just got over Dengue Fever stage two. I had lots and I mean lots of blood tests which are scary to me! Now for the good stuff. I met this Korean Baptist missionary pastor and had a wonderful conversation with him which was encouraging. I also have a chance to witness to another one of the children that I have met. So would you please pray for both of us. Me to be a good witness and him to respond. With your prayers God will give me strength to do the right thing!

Dear Prayer Partners;

We would like to thank you for your prayers, financial partnership, and all the other help you have done this month. It has been a wild month weather wise. We had another typhoon at the beginning of the month which dropped rain on all our plans so we improvised and came through with God's help. Then in the middle of the month we had our one (1) year anniversary celebration of the Itogon ministry in the mountains above Baguio. It went wonderful. We were really excited as we had another person respond to God's plan of salvation and were able to put a Bible in her hands. Isn't God wonderful! We also had a great Father's Day celebration and had several new men hear the good news of what God has in His Word for mankind. But the rest of the month has been wet with back to back typhoons which dropped an immense amount of water. Everything is flooded in the lowlands and there are several landslides in the mountain region. Please pray for the ministry in both locations as the travel is difficult. Daeana was not a happy camper this last weekend as we had to walk thru the mud because the road was closed. She asked if someone could carry her but we all had many things to pack into the location. She traded shoes with Anabelle as Anabelle was wearing her boots and braved the mud like a trooper. It is amazing they both wear the same size shoes. Even many of Anabelle's clothes fit Daeana. She is growing so fast! She has really matured also and is helping with the preparation of the meals and the cleaning up after the ministry. We have also had a problem this month with our email account. We opened our account one day only to find someone else compromised our account and sent out numerous junk emails. We have taken several steps to correct the problem. We really appreciate your understanding as ministry is our only focus. We want get the Word of God to the people of the Philippines so they can in turn pass it on to others here and abroad. We still do not have a camera that will fit our ministry needs and our budget, so we are borrowing Anabelle's nieces as the need arises. We would appreciate your prayers in this matter as well because all wisdom comes from God and we want to make the right decision. The house is coming along though the rain has basically stopped all progress on the outside so we are working on the inside. We have hung the doors but are still waiting for the people to finish the windows. We are ready to do the wiring. This should begin next week. The ceilings are framed and ready for sheeting when the wiring is done. Please pray as the scope of the work is being completed that God's direction is done in His time and His way. This last week we had an opportunity to minister to a family in Calumbaya, where we are building our house. Their second son of four children was killed in a tricycle accident. We were able to tell them God's plan for man and explain the ministry to them. They expressed a desire to come to the Bible studies when the house is finished. Thank you again, we greatly appreciate each of you and pray also for your needs daily. Now a few words from Daeana "I am starting to go new adventures like playing in the rain without an umbrella and get soaking wet. I've been busy with school starting here and helping in the ministry but would I leave you guys out? HELLO NO! I miss you!"

Dear Prayer Partners;

Thank you so much for your prayers and financial gifts as we partner in God's ministry. You all have really stepped up to the plate and answered God's call when we have needed your help. We greatly appreciate you all and pray for you daily. Well it is hard to believe that it has been one (1) year since we landed here in the Philippines. Over this past year though God has really used us in His work. We have seen the beginning and growth of three (3) Bible studies. We have seen many, many professions of faith in Christ's work on the cross. Also in the ministry to the Igorot people, in the mountains above Baguio, we have seen nine (9) people baptized. It is so exciting watching God work through you and us as we partner together and see people grow in Him. Please pray that God will continue to use us over the next year as He has over this past year. We wish to reach more people in different areas with His Word. We have really noticed a good growth spiritually in the people attending the Bible studies as their questions they ask and the answers they give in response to questions we ask them have changed drastically over this past year. The decisions they are making are better also, showing amazing progress. We also ask you to pray for safety as we are approaching the wet season of the year again. This past year Dale and Daeana experienced their first typhoon which was really eye opening for them. It wasn't until October though. This past month we have already experienced two (2) more. They usually do not come through until late in the wet season and this is really early. Please pray that this is not an indication of an extremely bad year weather wise. We are sorry that we cannot send any pictures this month as our camera just quit working and we cannot retrieve the pictures we have taken and we have not had time to either get it repaired nor purchase another one. The building is coming along well. The roof is basically finished and the windows are built and are supposed to be installed next week. We have ordered the doors and they are being built. We will find out next week how long it should be before we get them for installation. We have also found that our well we had dug last month is too deep for a hand pump. So we have to purchase an electric deep well pump and holding tank so we can have water even when the electricity is out. The electricity is out rather regularly. In fact it is on and off all during the week. We have built the tower for the tank but have not purchased the tank or the pump as of yet. We wish to finish the building soon as we desire to begin a fourth (4th) Bible study there. We have been approached by several people who have desired to come if we will help them study the Bible. It has been a really busy month and we have seen God's hand directing our lives. Please continue to pray as God leads us in His ministry.

Now a few words from Daeana. "Hi again, We just got hit by another typhoon. We are almost ready to move in to our house. We have primed the walls of my bedroom and bathroom, yah! I am meeting new friends everyday! I am about to begin my fourth grade year this next month. Well just think of it we have been here one, count it, one year. Well toodles, Daeana"

Dear Prayer Partners; May brings us Mother's day so Happy Mother's day to you all! It also brings our anniversary (an even dozen) and Anabelle's birthday Wow (35). Well thank you so much for your prayers and for all the other help you have been so kind in doing. Thank you also for the financial contributions you are so kind. This last month has been truly spiritually uplifting in that our Easter celebration culminated with nine (9) of the people in our ministry to the Igorots getting baptized. We had our service at our normal place but because of the lack of water there we all loaded into a Jeepney and traveled for over an hour to the river. We were packed in like sardines and we even had people hanging on the back and sitting on the top of the roof. What an adventure!! Also this last month brought the public schools graduations and Anabelle was asked to be the guest speaker at the school she graduated from so many years ago! It is amazing how God has brought her full circle to the very roots she started from to minister to her own people. When we landed nearly a year ago Anabelle's devotional Bible go slightly damaged but now it is in pieces so if one of you could help we would greatly appreciate the help. She uses a chronological one year (NIV) bible. She tries to hold it together the best she can but some of the pages are now missing. We have tried to replace it here but were told it is not available in the Philippines. We were told " The Philippines is a developing country even when things are obsolete in other countries they have not reached here yet." Well the house is coming along well. We have ordered the windows and are in the process of getting quotes together for the actual metal roofing. Because of the typhoons we have constructed an all concrete house with a metal roof. The tool shed which is constructed the same way was broke into during the village's festival. They could not get through the door or windows so they went through the roof eves. We have welded steel bars in the roof so they cannot come back through that way again. They only took a few of the tools so we are not handicapped too much in progressing on the construction. Please keep us in prayer for both the ministry as the people continue to be discipled and for safety on the building project and that it will progress in a timely fashion. Now a few words from Daeana" I have been exploring and trying new foods and doing new things. My older cousin took me to the little BBQ house. No it is not what you think, it had pig skin and intestines, chicken heads and other stuff that you would not want to try. I tried (drum roll please) pig skin dipped in sweet and sour sauce! It was good! Our Song leader left to work in another ministry so I am working with the children again. Pray for some more help! Well bye for now (fiber now)"

Dear Prayer Partners;

Thank you so much for your prayers and financial partnership as well as all the other help and encouragement in the ministry. This past month has been another adventure. At the beginning of the month, Daeana was sick again but praise God recovered quickly. Then later in the month she was ill again this time it took several days to recover. She developed a lung infection and stomach virus. Then Anabelle got sick which lasted a whole week. Dale is fighting a sinus infection which has gone into his lungs. We are getting to know the Philippine physicians well. Please keep the family in your prayers for our health as we try to keep up with our busy schedules. Daeana has finished the third grade and has taken her SAT's. She did well so it is on to the fourth in a couple of months. She is growing so fast. A week or so ago we had some excitement with the tsunami warning because of the earthquake in Japan. Daeana was scared and said " I am too young to die!" and her young cousin thought he would save the family by bringing their flip-flop slippers inside. But praise the Lord the damage was only minor as the waves came ashore on the upper part of our island. Anabelle made an extra trip to Baguio to minister to one of the family members in our group there. She was in the hospital with a urinary tract infection and asked Anabelle to come and help. Later Dale was able to minister to her husband who came down with Typhoid Fever. Praise the Lord for bringing us here to help people. The biggest blessing was when Bal came to accept "Jesus as his personal savior!" Thank you for your prayers because they were answered very quickly. Now he is reading his Bible every spare moment he has and takes it wherever he goes. It is so exciting to see God working! Dale has been using "peddle-power" to get back and forth from the building project and has lost several inches in his mid section. WOW, what a great exercise! The house is coming along well. The blocks for the walls are completed and the beams to hold the roof are also finished. Now we will begin the roof structure. We would like to have the roof on before "rainy season" starts. We are also trying to work out the logistics so we can have a baptismal service for those who came to Christ in the Baguio ministry. Water is hard to come by in that mountain region. Please pray that God will work out the details. Now a few words from Daeana "Thank you for your prayers, I need them because I got sick. But I am ok now. I have finished my SAT's. The tsunami warning was scary but I survived! Your survivor, Daeana
