The Testimonies of Lou & Sandy Carrico
Sandy grew up in West Virginia and is the daughter of a pastor. At the
age of 5, she accepted Christ as her Savior through Vacation Bible
School. She understood that she was a sinner and did things that didn't
please Christ and realized she needed him in her heart. Because of her
young age, however, she didn't fully realize the importance of a daily
relationship with Christ through Bible reading, prayer and being a
witness to others.
It wasn't until she was in high school that she acknowledged the fact
that she wasn't spending time daily with the Lord and seeking His will
for her life. She became very active in her church youth group
and their puppet team and through this rededicated her life to the Lord. While on
the puppet team, she travelled to many places presenting the gospel and
holding Bible school for other churches. She also travelled with the
group to a state prison and presented the gospel to prisoners!
After graduating from high school, she attended Appalachian Bible College
in West Virginia where she was active on the Drama Team and Jail Team.
After her first year of school, she accepted a job at Union Mission
Ministries, a rescue mission in her home town. She directed the summer
day camp for inner city teens then went on to accept a full time position
as Director of Family Services where she was in charge of distributing
food, clothing, baby items and household needs to at-risk families.
While working at the mission, she met Lou Carrico, an ABC student doing a
summer internship.
******
Lou grew up in New Jersey and after high school joined the United States
Air Force. While stationed in Arizona, he met a born again Christian who
gave Lou a gospel tract to read. Being raised Catholic, Lou started
wrestling with his religious upbringing and wondered what his chances
would be of going to Heaven. Although he was convicted by the things his
new Christian friend talked about, Lou didn't want to give up his worldly
lifestyle. He then left Arizona for a new assignment in
Aviano, Italy.
Arriving at his new assignment, he learned that his supervisor was a
Christian and liked to talk to fellow co-workers about things in the
Bible. Lou felt at this point that he could not run away from these
people God was placing in his life. He and his supervisor formed a close
friendship and Lou had many questions that his friend was more than
willing to answer. Five months later, Lou showed up at his supervisor's
house knowing one thing, he wanted to ask the Lord to save him from his
sins.
After 8 years in the USAF, Lou felt the Lord leading him to
Appalachian Bible College. He was involved in several summer
ministries while at ABC including an internship at Union Mission Ministries where he met Sandy.
After Lou graduated in May 1996, they were married in September.
They moved to Lanham, Maryland where Lou is currently attending Capital
Bible Seminary and will graduate with a Master of Arts/New Testament
Greek in May. They are also expecting their first baby in April.
Lou and Sandy were accepted as missionaries with Titus in December, 1999. They both have a desire to work with the Jewish people through
evangelism and discipleship out of the local church. They are praying
about the possibility of working out of Atlanta, Georgia, where there is
a large number of Russian speaking Jews needing to have the true
righteousness of God through Messiah declared to them.
